SoundHouse, the latest architectural masterpiece at the University of Sheffield in Sheffield, UK, is more than just another interesting looking building. The exterior which appears to be covered in whimsical tufted panels reflective of Victorian Furniture, Is actually clad in sound insulating rubber. The exterior material prevents sound from enter or escaping the structure, which is used as a rehearsal and recording studio by students. Soundhouse was designed in partnership by Carey Jones Architects and delivered by Jefferson Sheard Architects. To see more shots of the building check out the link on the Contemporist.com where I found the original post.
